Fernie 2010 Half Marathon
Fernie, British Columbia, is well known as a world-class catskiing destination. However, just because there is no snow right now, doesn't mean nothing is happening around town. In addition to typical summer activities like mountain biking, hiking, and fishing, Fernie is also home to some avid runners. With each passing year, the Fernie Half Marathon is growing in size and appeal. The reason is that the Fernie Half Marathon offers something no one else can offer: an all-trail course through the surrounding mountains and parks of Fernie, as well as along the Elk River. Now is the time to visit if you want to practice, or just join in the fun. Every Wednesday, Evolution Fitness is offering a non-competitive group run that traces the course. Cat Skiing
Powder Cowboy offers a very special western themed experience, staying open during the summer months by converting into a Dude Ranch. Their cozy log cabins and peaceful surroundings provide a great place to rest and relax, either before or after the race, or whatever it is that has brought you to the amazing town of Fernie. If you wish to rest your weary legs after the run in luxury, Island Lake offers the best facilities. With a world-class spa, gourmet food, and top-of-the-line service, you won't have to worry about a thing during your stay. Catskiing
Of course, if you come for the race, you'll also be able to see what a great place Fernie makes for backcountry skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Both Powder Cowboy and Island Lake operate spectacular tours of the surrounding area, offering all kinds of great terrain. Come visit in October for the race, or December-April for great skiing, but either way book now with Powder Cowboy or Island Lake so as not to miss out on the best lodging here in Fernie.
