The Fernie Arts Station 20th Anniversary

The Fernie Arts Station is the center of art and culture in Fernie. If you come to visit Fernie, British Columbia, this is definitely one of the stops you should make. As well as two art galleries, it has a small theatre and a craft studio. During the month of August, the Arts Station is celebrating its 20th anniversary. As a special feature, the Arts Station is holding an exhibit of how the building came to be. It originally began life as the railway station for Fernie on the Canadian Pacific Railway. Once it was no longer being used, its new owners actually moved it to its new location on rails, greased with lard. The exhibition shows the process, as well as photos, archives, and personal accounts from the volunteers who made the building what it now is. Canada Cat Skiing

The Fernie Arts Station is one of the multitudes of activities and cultural experiences that Fernie has to offer above and beyond the typical activities of a mountain town. While the hiking and biking are just as epic as the skiing is in the winter, Fernie is able to offer that something extra that will make your vacation special. Catskiing BC Canada
