The most notable feature of Fernie for fishermen and women is the Elk River. The emerald waters of this river and its many tributaries offer world class fly fishing. Bring your own gear, or rent anything and everything you need from any of the many local outfitters. Change things up, and sit still in the backcountry, fishing in pristine alpine lakes. Many different species of fish make this area their home, from Rainbows and Bass to Cutthroat Trout and Brook, Fernie truly is an angler's paradise.

Unless you want the complete outdoors experience, you're going to need some place to stay here in B.C.. To make your Fernie fishing experience even more unique, stay at the Powder Cowboy Dude Ranch. The western style lodging and saloon make for a great place to relax in the evenings.

If you want something more upscale, some place with a full spa to help you unwind after a long day on the river, Island Lake Lodge. With three separate lodges, there is plenty of space to spread out, relax, and enjoy the view.

Fernie B.C. offers many different summer activities other than fishing. Most notably, there are miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking. If you want a more sedate activity, there is plenty of world-class golfing to be had. Whatever you do, enjoy the Fernie nightlife, with lots of live local music. Don't forget to come back in the winter and enjoy ridiculous amounts of champagne powder by going catskiing in the backcountry. Both Island Lake and Powder Cowboy offer premier catskiing tours throughout the winter months. Cat Skiing BC
