Four Months Until Ski Time
Island Lake Catskiing is one of the premier catskiing operations in all of British Columbia, and a prime destination within B.C. is the area around Fernie. 95% of the world's heliskiing and catskiing takes place in B.C. every season, and it's no wonder with all the great snow that naturally piles itself up here during the winter. The snow that falls here is some of the driest, most fluffy snow that falls anywhere in the world, making for a perfect visit to the backcountry just about any day of the season. That season runs from December 19th until April, which means you only have to wait about four more months until you can carve up some fresh tracks on their spectacular terrain.
The terrain really is spectacular. It is spread over 7,000 acres, with plenty of variety. You’ll never have to ski the same run twice, unless you want to. The 7,000+ acres includes just about every type of terrain imaginable. There are naturally-gladded tree runs, sweet open powder bowls, pillow lines galore and crazy adrenaline pumping chutes. What’s really nice is that many of their runs go all the way back to the lodge, meaning you can finish the day on your skis, maximizing your fun.
