Island Lake Catskiing is a world-renowned backcountry skiing destination located just outside of Fernie, British Columbia. Island Lake has also taken many steps to protect the local wildlife. Hunting access on Island Lake lands is restricted, and trapping is prohibited. Access is also restricted to numerous species during critical periods of the animal’s life cycle. These are but a few of the many ways that Island Lake strives to minimize the human impact of snow catskiing.
