Last Chance to Get in On the Fun at Island Lake Catskiing

Located just outside of Fernie, B.C., Island Lake Catskiing,  is one of the original snow cat skiing operations in B.C. Their 7,000 acres of terrain is as vast as it is diverse. Their terrain includes parts of the Lizard Range, Mount Baldy, and Mount Fernie, as well as most of the Cedar Valley. If backcountry snowcat skiing is what you want, Island Lake is the answer.   One of the many areas available is called the Geisha Bowl, and is viewable from the decks of the lodge. The bowl is huge, with endless combinations of sweet backcountry lines. If pure vertical is what you’re looking for, then experience the leg burn of the Three Bears and Hunters Bowl. The Three Bears also offer a spectacular view from the lodge, but more importantly offer the highest starting points. Start from there and go all the way down to the depths of the Cedar Valley, giving you over 3000 feet of vertical, all in one super charged shot. If you want steep chutes and good tree skiing, then the Cabin Bowl is where you want to be. Steep tree lines and long run outs are to be had at the Lizard Pass and the Wolverines area. Wave hello to the sleeping bears as you cruise down the bowl at Faceshots, as champagne powder flies all around you. Ridgelines and steep mountain vertical are what is on the menu at Mt. Baldy. Finally for those addicted to weaving in and out of the trees, Mt. Fernie offers amazing gladed tree lines, with the trees spaced ever so perfectly. Canada Cat Skiing
