The Magnificent Lizard Range

Here in Fernie, British Columbia, one of the main areas for backcountry skiing is the Lizard Range. Located just to the south-east of Fernie, the range is 19 miles wide and 27 miles long. This well known range reaches elevations as high as 7,743 feet and keeping up with the B.C. standards, also gets lots of dry, fluffy snow each year. The snowfall is usually about 350 inches annually, which means there is always plenty of fresh powder.
