New Mountain Biking Trail Opens In Fernie

This weekend saw the opening of the Porky Blue downhill trail here in Fernie, British Columbia. World renowned for its backcountry skiing in the winter, Fernie is also a great place for mountain biking and other outdoor summer activities. One of the great things about mountain biking in Fernie is that there are so many trails, meaning there is something for everyone. Porky Blue continues in that spirit, and has cross country sections as well has the downhill part. The trail is a diversion of the Porcipine Rim trail, and lasts about four hours. In celebration of the opening, more than 140 bikers took place in a ride this weekend to christen the trail, which benefited the Fernie Trails and Ski Touring Club, the builders of the trail. Fernie truly is a mountain biker’s paradise, with more than 50 trails of all kinds.
