Only 5 Months Until Catskiing Starts at Powder Cowboy and Island Lake Lodge

Today is the last day of June, and while that may make it seem like white powder glory is ages away, it really means we've passed the hump, and now it's a downhill race from here on out. If Fernie B.C. is your destination, and it should be for cat skiing, then you really only have two choices: Powder Cowboy or Island Lake. None of the competition comes close to offering the terrain, professional guides, and overall service provided by these two companies.

Powder Cowboy is a western themed outfit, but don't worry, you won't be going back country on a horse. You'll have all the creature comforts while riding in the cat. Fresh gourmet sandwiches, and all the hot coca or tea you can drink. Sounds great, right? Well, wait until you see the powder. Better yet, wait until the champagne fluffy softness melts in your mouth as the powder explodes around you. Their 6000 acre tenure is filled with long ridges and peaks, which have sweet lines dropping in any and all directions.

Island Lake Lodge  provides a more upscale vacation experience. Don't worry, the extra money is worth it. You've heard of ski-in, ski-out resorts, how about skiing fresh backcountry powder all the way back to the lodge? Island Lake's 7000 acre tenure covers the north end of the Lizard Range, the front and back slopes of Mt. Fernie, all of Mt Baldy, and much of the Cedar Valley. If you like zipping in and out through trees, Mt. Fernie provides some of the best tree spacing found anywhere on the planet.

Can't wait until winter to experience the heavenly solitude here in Fernie, British Columbia? Both companies have lodges open during the summer time. Enjoy the alpine wilderness without the freezing cold temperatures, or take it easy and enjoy all the local culture Fernie has to offer.
