White Water Rafting Season in Full Swing

Fernie British Columbia is a top destination for catskiing in the winter. In the summer there is plenty to do for mountain bikers, hikers, and many others. One thing that people enjoy about Fernie is the white water rafting. From the scenic runs near Fernie on the Elk River to the Upper Canyon near the Elko Dam, where the water is Class V and higher with falls of more than 40 feet, beginning and advanced rafters can have their fill.   Fernie, as with the rest of B.C. and especially this area of the Canadian Rockies, is more well known for its backcountry skiing and the tons of powder that get dropped here every year. However, in addition to plenty of white water rafting there are many other activities to take part in during the summer. Any type of vacation is possible. Come and enjoy some peace and relaxation while taking in the lovely local surroundings. Action junkies can get their summer adrenaline fix by hiking, climbing, or mountain biking.

No matter what your reason for visiting Fernie, you'll need a place to stay. The luxury and service available at Island Lake Lodge is difficult to beat. One of the original cat-skiing operations here in Fernie, Island Lake operates everything but the snowcats in the summer. The full-service spa offers the same great relaxing massages every day, and the gourmet kitchen offers plenty in the way of summer fare. If you've ever wanted the Dude Ranch experience, combined with the opportunity to take part in other activities, Powder Cowboy,  offers great summer packages.

No matter where you stay, if you've chosen to visit Fernie in the summer, you must investigate returning to either of these lodges during the winter. The B.C. backcountry experience you'll get certainly merits the investment. Canada Cat Skiing
